I spend a lot of time and money buying and reading comics. Most of the time I'm happy with my choices, sometimes not. I'm hoping, that with my reviews on what I've read, I might spare someone else dissapointment. I'll read anything, but I can't afford everything. If there's something you'd like for me to read, let me know. If you take the time to read this, please, take the time to let me know what you think. I may not agree with you, or you may not agree with me. But, so what. That's life.

New Avengers: the Reunion #1 & #2 - Marvel
Ok, I have to admit, this is another one I accidentally picked up. Actually I picked up issue #2. So I had to go back for issue #1. I know that sounds insane, but . . I like the Avengers and I'm interested in finding out about these two characters so I thought . . what the heck! Overall I liked the first 2 issues. Mockingbird is on a mission here. She's recently started her own group called WCA . . World Counter-terrorism Organization. This is posted before my Secret Warriors post, but . . I read that one first. Bobbi seems to have much the same view of the world as Nick Fury. While she was a captive of the Skrulls she used her spy training to learn what they had learned. "They discovered that we were filled with corruption. From the highest level down. Government, covert ops like SHIELD . . and AIM was right in the middle of it. Humanity was a cancer, eating itself from the inside. They figured we'd eventually wipe ourselves out, leaving the Earth for them to just come in and take unchallenged." So when she, and a whole lot of other ex-SHIELD agents came back . . they found out that SHIELD was no more. But the good news was, they got taken before SHIELD became so corrupted. Those are the agents that she's using to start her own agency. Anyways, Bobbi recently found out that a hospital in Jersey was a front for AIM. There they were developing the next generation of biological warfare. This was being developed by Monica Rappaccini. She was an AIM scientist that was supposedly killed, but now appears to have resurfaced. Her plan was to use the bomb at a major scientific conference is Spain. Not only would it take out the people at the conference, but . . it would also infect the nearby river, taking it out to the Mediterranean. "Whatever they're cooking could infect this entire region. It could kill . . well . . millions. This bomb won't just set AIM up as a major power player, but cement her place as it's leader." Anyways, that's the gist of the first 2 issues . . it's a spy thriller. However, the human part of the story to me is the troublesome relationship between Clint and Bobbi. Clint just can't understand why Bobbi won't let him back in. He's trying to understand what she went through, and to help her deal with it . . but she just doesn't want to seem to yield. There was a time when they were going to try to reconcile. He doesn't understand why they can't do that again. It doesn't become aware to him, until the end of the second issue . . . that time where they almost got back together . . never really happened. That was after Bobbi was taken. "The last time I saw you . . I saw anyone, was before . . that. Whatever you thought . . whatever was said . . . it was a Skrull. I came back to tell you it was over, Clint. I had filed divorce papers. I'm not your wife anymore." So now, the elephant in the room . . . has been stabbed in the heart, and crushed under foot. I think the points been driven home. I really liked these first 2 issues. I think Jim McCann is doing a good job with this story. I can literally feel Clint's frustration eating it's way off the page. Along with Bobbi's frustration that . . he just won't get it! And then of course the whole AIM / SHIELD story-line is pretty intense also. I'm not overly thrilled with David Lopez' pencils, but . . they're ok. I only picked up issue #1 because I didn't want to be left with issue #2 and not know what was going on. But now . . now it looks like I'm going to have to follow the rest of the mini to find out how this one turns out.
