X-Men #202 - Marvel

This book has epic written all over it. With the talents of Mike Carey and Humberto Ramos at the helm . . how could we expect anything less. We find out some more about what the Marauders are up to this issue. They've actually been set on their course by, none other than . . . Sinister. We don't find out a lot, but we do find out that they aren't necessarily out to kill the X-men. They aren't really even looking for a fight. No, for some reason, they're trying to blind them. By that I mean, they're trying to take out all of their telepaths and precogs. Sam learns this when he interrogates Sunfire. So obviously they're up to something . . . something big . . . and they don't want anyone to know their plans ahead of time. They even go to the extent of trying to get Destiny's diaries. But luckily, Emma hid them. Kitty thinks she's in possession of them. But actually, Emma has placed a mental image in her head that they were the real things. They're actually blank books. Which doesn't make Exodus very happy when he goes to retrieve them. Sinister's plan also has something to do with Cerebro. Because he's in possession of it now. And he's using it for something. I like the way that they're incorporating the New X-men in to this storyline also. After all, they do live in the same building as them. So it's only natural that they would also be affected. Then we have Chapter 9 of the Endangered Species storyline. Hank and the Dark Beast have gone to Genosha to study the bodies of all the dead mutants that lay there. They've made the discovery that it seems like the mutants have kept their mutation. But somehow the gene that controls it has been shut off. So now they want to compare those genes to the ones that didn't lose their powers. Their also wondering why the Mutant Growth Hormone seems to bypass this. It's made from the DNA of mutants. So they're wondering how, given the lack of donors, the drug dealers are keeping the samples vital. So their next stop is to check in with Bishop. I like the twists and turns this story has taken also. I'm kind of wondering though, is their mission somehow going to coincide with Sinister's. Is the Marauder's story going to be somehow connected to this one. Only time will tell.
