Batman / Lobo - Deadly Serious #1 - DC

Sam Kieth is just . . . you know . . . I don't know what Sam Kieth is. But I'll tell you what . . . I don't think he's straight when he writes these stories. Either that or he's never lost that youthful imagination that helps you believe that anything is possible. Lucky him! First of all his artwork, as usual, is superb. His rendition of Batman is amazing. He wouldn't even have to have Batman talk. The expressions that he gives him, both on his face and with his body language, speaks volumes. And . . . he draws a pretty sinister Lobo too! Here's the basic premise . . . Batman's been recruited by someone named Astrella. She's picked Batman up, and taken him 7.2 light-years from Earth. I assume she's the AI of this spaceship. But, we never really do get to see her, or find out just exactly what kind of sentient being she is. Lobo is there also. I assume the Astrella brought him in too. Anyways, there's this virus, or something, that is attaching itself to the women in the ship, one at a time. It sends them in to a psychotic rage. "In other words . . they're psychos. They smoke, drink, raise hell, and kill people. This fever makes chicks . . go mental." And really, that's the only MO there is. So Lobo and Batman chase this thing around the ship as it goes through, and burns out, 3 or 4 women in the process. But they can't make any headway. All they're really doing is reacting to it's patterns. They can't anticipate or get ahead of it. But they're going to have to figure out something soon because it looks like it's headed towards Earth. Of course anything Sam does is amazing. But the team-up with Batman and Lobo is perfect. These 2 play off of each other amazingly well. I can't wait to see how they wrap this up.
