R.E.B.E.L.S. #9 - DC

Everyone seems to be coming to Voorl now. It's one of the only planets that the Starro Conqueror hasn't, well . . conquered yet. Garv and Rocky join Strata this issue. So now, their family is back together. And Adam Strange and Captain Comet have finally answered Vril Dox's call and have also come to help. They've been busy with Synnar and the Weird. But now that issue has been resolved . . for the time being, so they thought they'd come and see what's up. They even have Kanjar Ro here. He acts like he's calling to offer help, but really he's afraid that his planet may be the next on Starro's list. Vril wants to ignore him, but he ends up sending Adam there to retrieve the Gamma Gong. Unfortunately it's destroyed by Starro when he arrives, so he returns with only Kanjar. Dox isn't happy. He says they need 3 things to beat Starro . . the unique metal that the Gong is made from, another item currently on Kalanor, and a certain Dominator weapons system. Unfortunately they're now all in enemy territory. However, before Vril can split them up and send them on their individual missions, Garv and family decide that they don't want to be a part of this. They think that Bounder will join them eventually. And on their way out they run in to Lyrl. He doesn't appear to be happy with his father's machinations either. But before they can get much farther, there's a crash and they all come face to face with Starro the Conqueror's general, Smite . . and the rest of the High Vanguard. Meanwhile the Omega Men are trying to infiltrate the Starro galaxy. The Psion's recently fitted them all with Darkstars. They're basically the same as a Starro, but without the mind control. Also the other Starros seem to recognize them. Like they look right, or smell right. The only problem seems to be, they've got everyone on edge. They seem to be amping up thier individual powers, so they all seem a little tweaked right now. And apparently that causes the Starros to take notice of them. I love Tony Bedard's writing. I think he's doing a great job with this series. I'm glad that the Omega Men are playing a good part in it also. Claude St Aubin does the art this issue. Like I kept saying in my Strange Adventures posts, I'm glad that DC has decided to open up, and pay attention to this part of it's universe again. There's a whole lot of great characters out here, and now there's a bunch of them in this one single book. If you aren't reading this book . . you should. Stop by, and get to know some new faces.
