Ultimate Fantastic Four #41 - Marvel

This issue wraps up the current storyline. Basically Diablo, an alchemist from 500 years ago, was set on this path of destruction. Seeing what he was going to do the their city, and possibly the earth, Vecchiato and his allies imprisoned Diablo in his own stone tower. But through the alchemical arts, Diablo saw in to the future and saw our group of heroes, whom seem to be based on the 4 elements, much as is alchemy. So, he saw this as his chance to escape. He drew our team back in to the past, by capturing some of their loved ones. And he's using Reed's little sister, Enid, as a conduit to conjure the elixir vitae. At first Ben goes in like a bull in a china shop. But all he really accomplishes is breaking down the barriers that had been erected around the tower. Which is what Diablo wanted. So in return, Diablo turns him in to glass and breaks him in to a million pieces. Of course a battle ensues, but the turning point is actually Enid. With the power coursing through her, she breaks free of her restraints and turns it on Diablo when he's not looking. Vecchiato then reassembles Ben and brings him back to life. The only problem? He's blue now. Also Enid still seems to have glowing hands, so I don't know how this whole experience is going to change her. But we'll see, I'm sure. And then our team goes Back to the Future. This wasn't a bad story-line. However, I don't feel that it was as unique or exciting as some of the previous one's in this title. So I'll be interested to see what the next one looks like. I count on these Ultimate titles to be different, shake things up. But this recent story could've been in any FF title. It didn't have that unique flavor. We have a regular FF title. This one needs to set itself apart somehow. I don't feel it did that this story-arc. But, we'll see what happens next time.
