Supergirl #44 - DC

Ok, this Codename: Patriot storyline is going full strength, and I gotta say . . this has got to be frustrating to the various members of the Superman-family. Hell . . I'm just the reader and it's frustrating to me. It seems as if everything is going General Lane's way right now, and that is putting the Kryptonians in a seriously hard position. First, General Lane sets up Ral-Dar by having a conversation with Atlas about how they're using him and duping him. I mean, come on . . they know that even though he's in a holding cell he's going to be able to hear every word they say. It's obvious to us, but apparently Ral-Dar isn't that . . um, seasoned. He gets pissed, breaks out of his cell, and heads straight towards Markovia and the President of the United States. He's there to sign a trade agreement, but the General has Ral-Dar convinced it's a war treaty. Meanwhile, Flamebird and Nightwing seem to be on a tear in LA. Mon El and Kara go out to intercept, but they don't know that another of the General's lackeys, Mirabai, is pulling their strings. Apparently she has some kind of mental manipulation or possession power. There's a couple of problems here. First of all Nightwing and Flamebird have been flying under the radar . . so far. But when they look at the news footage back in Metropolis, Kara immediately recognizes her as Thara. Which means that everyone else is going to know now that they're actually Kryptonian. Secondly, when Kara goes blazing in trying to help her friend . . she's now put herself under Mirabai's control. Now all 4 of them are also racing off to Markovia. As is Superman who went after Ral-Dar. Right now, everything is going exactly the way the General wants it to. All of these characters are playing right into his hands. To add to the mix, he's manipulating Cat Grant into going on the Edge of Reason . . Morgan Edge's show, whom we also know is in the General's pocket . . to comment on Supergirl, and I'm sure the whole Superman family. I have a feeling this is just going to keep getting worse before it gets better. I think Sterling Gates and Jamal Igle are doing a great job here. We are really feeling the frustration of what these characters are going through. It's permeable. I can't wait to see what happens next.
