R.E.B.E.L.S. #10 - DC

This is another book that I think gets better and better with every issue. Tony Bedard and Andy Clark are doing a fantastic job here. Now, besides having to worry about Starro the Conqueror, the Black Lanterns have begun attacking. The one that comes after the REBELS is none other than Stealth . . Lyrl's mother. And speaking of Lryl, Starro has come to Voorl looking for him . . just as he, Strata and Garv decided to abandon his father's team. He goes with Starro's High Vanguard, first to save Strata and Garv, but also, I think, because he's egotistical enough to think that he can trick Starro, or out-smart him. But when they get to Maltus they attach a Starro to him to return his 12th level intellect. 'Save the sales pitch, Starro. I'm you guy. Just don't call me that name anymore. Call me Brainiac 3.' Anyways, as soon as Vril realized that Lyrl has been taken, he knows that the whole galaxy is in jeopardy. So he grabs up his team and heads off planet . . with Stealth and Starro's High Vanguard hot in pursuit. Also, this group is getting bigger and bigger every issue. It now includes Vril, Adam Strange, Captain Comet, Bounder, Strata, Garv and Rocky, Amon Hakk, Xylon, Kanjar Ro, Ciji, Wildstar and Tribulus. Anyways, as they're leaving Vrool, they come across a group of Sinestro Corps members. They're also being chased . . by another Black Lantern . . Harbringer. In the ensuing melee, Vril's ship gets destroyed . . in the crossfire. Harbringer starts taking out the Sinestro Corps, and Stealth starts taking out Starro's High Vanguard. But remember . . when one of the Corps members dies the ring immediately begins looking for a replacement. Guess who ends up with it? None other than . . Vril Dox. The ring begins tapping on his force-field . . 'Vril Dox of Colu. You have the ability to instill great fear . . welcome to the Sinestro Corps.' We next see Vril in a shiny yellow uniform and aura. He says, 'Thought you'd never ask. I've always wondered what this would feel like . .' What a revoltin' development. This part of the story-line . . the Blackest Night connection, only lasts through next issue. But I have a feeling that the Starro story-line is going to be carrying on a little while longer. This was a great issue. I can't wait to see what happens in the next one.
