I spend a lot of time and money buying and reading comics. Most of the time I'm happy with my choices, sometimes not. I'm hoping, that with my reviews on what I've read, I might spare someone else dissapointment. I'll read anything, but I can't afford everything. If there's something you'd like for me to read, let me know. If you take the time to read this, please, take the time to let me know what you think. I may not agree with you, or you may not agree with me. But, so what. That's life.

R.E.B.E.L.S. #5 - DC
I think I need to do a little recap of this series so far. If nothing else . . to help me sort it out. Vril Dox lost control of Maltus, the home-base for LEGION, and soon Silica, his living computer. He wasn't there at the time so they never captured him. Once they gained control of Silica, it was simple to take control of LEGION and thereby the 80 worlds that it offered it's services to. So Vril Dox starting gathering up some of his old team-mates, and some new, to re-form REBELS. Meanwhile, the Omega Men, who knew that something wasn't right on Maltus, has been planning, and recently executed an attack there. They didn't accomplish much, other than finding out that Starro seems to be the one behind this takeover. Oh . . and, they blew off Silica's head which released her from Starro's control. Now Vril Dox's ship is under attack from a Khund vessel, which appears to have a little girl as it's captain. Actually, she's been sent here by the Shadow Council of Durla because, "The council is afraid of whoever stole LEGION from you. Your absence has emboldened the Khund, Spider guild and Citadelians to mobilize their forces. I've been tasked with restoring order before all-out war sweeps the sector . ." But, one of Starro's generals, the very powerful Astrild Storm-daughter, is also attacking both vessels herself. She's laying waste to the Khund vessel, but is trying to keep Vril Dox's ship together so she can return him to Maltus. "My master recognizes your intellect and extends you a rare offer. He will allow you to serve him, as I do . ." Meanwhile, a vast army also controlled by Starro has begun an attack to take over the Dominator homeworld. In it we find out that Starro is now not the big starfish type creature the the JLA has fought in the past, but rather an intimidating warrior who wears a Starro as his battle armor. I think he is more in control of Starro than Starro is of him. He's got this kind of medieval, Boris Vallejo type look to him. The Omega Men, who are now in a Psion lab station because the were recently captured by them, are being asked by the Psion's to assassinate this Starro the Conqueror. And finally, Vril Dox has sent Wildstar to retrieve what's left of Silica, while he and the rest of his team, jump their ship away from Astrild. Unfortunately, he doesn't know that one of Ciji's Khunds, Kreel, has snuck aboard his ship and is intent on killing Vril Dox. Pretty much . . that's the story that Tony Bedard has presented us with . . so far. I think it's fantastic. I've always like the Brainiac 5 character from the Legion series, but Vril Dox . . . Vril has all the intellect of Brainiac, but also he's scheming, arrogant, and extremely manipulative. Well . . I guess Brainy is too, but Vril doesn't try to hide it. He's a great character. I'm also thrilled with Claude St Aubin's pencils. He's really given this book a fantastic look. This series serves as a great replacement, in lieu of a regular Legion series. However . . they'll be back soon. Adventure Comics #1 comes out in August. All in all, I really like this series. Although I hope it sticks around little longer this time.
