A Man Called Kev #4 - Wildstorm

This guy has been a great character ever since he came to us from the pages of the Authority. And you can't help but love these Glenn Fabry covers. They're works of art. Anyways, Kev is holed up in the woods of Washington with Danny and Zoe. He's trying to stay as far away from England as possible right now. He has a tape, from Saddam's private collection, of Saddam shagging Margaret Thatcher, during one of their many international soiree's. They don't really know if he was keeping it for blackmail purposes, or just for leverage, but Kev took it and it got him kicked out of England. Now, somebody out there doesn't want anyone else to ever see it. So much so, that they've gone after everybody connected to Kev, to try to get to him. So naturally Kev took off to the states and his mate Danny's marijuana farm is Seattle. The people after the tape send a whole group of people in to get it, but the only successful one is the ninja chick from the cover, because Danny and Kev had enough time to booby trap the rest of the woods around their cabin. Unfortunately the ninja chick does get into the cabin though and takes out Danny. Kev and Zoe chase her off, and are left holding the dying Danny in their arms. This issue was pretty bloody, but I have the feeling that the next issue is going to be worse. Kev's going to be out for some serious payback after this. Carlos Ezquerra's art is ok. It's not great, but he does have a definite feel for this book and character. So it fits quite nicely. But, Garth Ennis' story is what really makes this book. Garth is a master, and I get the feeling that he loves this type of story. I can't wait to see how he wraps up this one.
