By now you probably all know that I'm a big fan of this book anyways. But this story, by Scott Beatty and Rags Morales, is really good. Doctor Mid-Nite is investigating some robberies. The robbers are organ thieves. They seem to be taking regular human organs, and "meta" organs. The "meta" organs are unique in that they're arms, and wings and "super hair" and Ice Maidens skin and such. They also stole Loose Cannon's heart. So he stumbles in to STAR labs holding the hole in his chest closed. Dr. Klyburn in the one at STAR in charge of trying to figure out what's happening, and what to do about it. Mid-Nite feels that Roulette may have something to do with it. Her trade is gambling. And her commodity is super-human fights. So he thinks that if she can't get super-human, than she's probably modifying regular humans. The only information he gets out of her is that it has something to do with Angelika. She's a model / actress who's just had a pair of wings grafted to her. But, in the end, we find out that the real villian is the Ultra-Humanite. For why? We don't know yet. I've always been a fan of Rags. I don't feel that he gets enough credit or recognition. He's a fantastic artist. And I really like the concept of this book. So for me, it's a win / win.
