I spend a lot of time and money buying and reading comics. Most of the time I'm happy with my choices, sometimes not. I'm hoping, that with my reviews on what I've read, I might spare someone else dissapointment. I'll read anything, but I can't afford everything. If there's something you'd like for me to read, let me know. If you take the time to read this, please, take the time to let me know what you think. I may not agree with you, or you may not agree with me. But, so what. That's life.

Gotham Underground #5 - DC
This issue takes us in to the past, a little bit, to give us some of the set-up for the story that's going on right now. First we see "Handsome Johnny". He's the patchwork guy that we saw last issue tearing up the hooker. He used to be one of Tobias' crew, but then Tobias got mad at him when he didn't complete an assigned task. Plus he double crossed him and took some goods. So Tobias had him nearly beaten and skinned to death. But, as he lie dying in the alley, Mannheim found him, and with Desaad's help they turned him in to the freak he is today. Also, it seems that the Penguin was actually in on the whole thing with the Villain round-up, and the Suicide Squad. A Mr Jessup had approached him, saying they wanted his help. But it wasn't until the Joker came in to his establishment and made a fool of him, that he decided to give them his support. He was also promised that he would be given all the paraphernalia and armaments taken from heroes and villains alike, to use as he sees fit to create a new gang. Which he does. And he even has a special girl . . although we don't see her face . . that he gives the Spoiler costume to. We also find out that it was Bane that decided to make Batman's life hell when he submersed himself in to Gotham prison as Matches Malone. He was also the one that severely beat, and almost killed the Great White Shark. But he seems to be working alone in this endeavor. So I'm not quite sure what he's up to, just yet. So anyways, this whole issue was a way to fill in the pieces of where we are currently in the story, and how we got there. I thought it was great. Frank Tieri is doing a great job with this story. And you all know what a huge fan of J Calafiore's I am. I wasn't sure that his style would lend itself well to this storyline, but, I gotta say . . it looks incredible. It's a great book, and a great addition to the Batman mythos.
