Two things here. First of all the ending to this story is kind of, anti-climatic. But, I think that's the way it's supposed to be. I think the real story is, where are we going from here. I mean they go through this big opera about how the horsemen rode the earth, and how the dead rose to do battle for their lord, whichever one that may be. God & Satan have been planning this battle for thousands of years, and they're looking forward to thousands of years of uninterrupted battle. Spawn comes in . . . . . and wipes out the whole shebang. All that's left is a barren planet, God, Satan and Spawn. So Satan, after realizing that Spawn has really messed up their plans, incinerates him with hellfire. Then all that's left, is God and Satan. At first they talk, but soon their hatred for each other takes over and they begin a battle amongst themselves. The Mother of all Creation, whom gave Al his new God power, has God and Satan trapped in a moment in time. Not trapped so much as, they're so consumed by hatred that they don't realize they aren't trapped. So in the next moment, where they are no more, she allows Spawn to recreate the earth and bring all who lived there back to life. They all feel like they're waking from a dream, but none will ever forget those terrible days of Apocalypse. And in a final request, Spawn asks the Mother to take away all his powers and turn him into Al Simmons again. As I said earlier, where do we go from here? We'll have to wait until next issue to find out.
