Justice League of America #42 - DC

So far I like this team that James Robinson and Mark Bagley are putting together here. This issue we see Kory, Hal, Dick, Donna and Vic all working together. As well as the appearances of Ray Palmer, Mon-El, Doctor Light, Black Canary and the Guardian. It seems like the League has a pretty solid membership now, even if it does seem to be at the expense of the Titans. We haven't actually seen the end of that series yet, but . . there's only 2 more issues listed, so . . we'll have to wait to see what happens there. Anyways, there's a whole lot of outside help brought in as well. The story revolves around some advanced, alien tech that has been found over the years all around the globe. The first piece was found by the Challengers of the Unknown, several years ago. And touching it almost drove Ace mad. They had to call in the Metal Men in order to even handle it. Uncle Sam, the Blackhawks and Plastic Man also came across a piece of it back in WWII. That one ends up on Blackhawk island, and we see the group from Cry for Justice defending it . . Bill and Miki. We also see that they have a piece of it at STAR Labs. Power Company gets involved when they have to protect it from some new, updated members of the New Gods. Later when Ray tries to identify the energy signature of the attackers, he finds out it's based on New Genesis technology. And there's a piece at the Smithsonian. The JLA get involved when they attack Blackhawk island. But it appears to be a ruse. While everyone is there, the new New Gods (?) inform their other members that the satellite is empty. Three of their members quickly boom-tube in. We don't know what they're after . . yet, but . . as they turn their backs, Ollie shows up in one of the teleportation tubes. It looks like he may be facing these guys alone. Speaking of Ollie . . we see a rather ominous bit of business in the beginning of this issue between he and Shade. We're not sure what it's all about yet, but . . Shade isn't very happy when he transports Ollie . . somewhere. I really liked this issue. I like the dynamics of this new team, and . . I'm interested to see what's happened to the New Gods and New Genesis since that whole debacle a year or two ago. Not to mention that I think James and Mark are doing a great job. Great covers by the way. And . . no back-up story. Just 30 pages of story and art. What more could a guy ask for?
