Titans #16 - DC

First of all . . what an awesome cover by Angel Unzueta . . whom also does the interior art. The opening page shows Kory and Dick/Batman making out . . it is hot!Anyways, as you've probably guessed, this entire issue is devoted to Kory. Basically, she just seems to be having a hard time adapting to the changing world around her. It all goes back to the trauma she felt when she was forced to wear one of those subjugating helmets during Final Crisis. She was a slave of the Gordanians before she came to Earth, and that experience during Final Crisis brought all of those feelings to the surface again. Add to that her role with her team/family has been changing, and you've got a recipe for depression brewing. She's been staying busy, helping out the JLA and JSA, but her own team, the Titans, seem to be kind of lethargic right now. They aren't disbanding or anything, but . . they all seem to have their own interests right now . . interest that for the most part don't include Kory. The team is on a mission and they come across a person that is still wearing a helmet. Kory is freaked out. " . . that helmet . . no! No! NO! I WILL NOT ALLOW IT! DO YOU HEAR ME? YOU CANNOT HAVE ME!!" Like I said, this has brought back all those feeling of what Blackfire did to her. Then she's wrestling with the fact that Dick doesn't love her anymore . . although she considers him to be her soul mate . . and she's deeply conflicted. Vixen even offers for her to join the JLA, which she quickly turns down. However when she's in space, looking at the sun rise over the Earth, she sees the JLA satellite in orbit and . . I think she's weighing the options. I thought Christopher Yost did a great job with this issue. We really got to know Kory a lot better and the various feelings that she's wrestling with. It was a nice single issue story.
