Danger Girl - Body Shots #3 & #4 - Wildstorm

Don't ask me why, but there are no pictures of Danger Girl - Body Shots #4 out there. I don't know why? I've gone to several of my resources, but I can't find anything. If I do find it later on, I'll come back and put it in to the blog. I know, it's not that big of a deal. But, like I've said before, I don't like to leave things undone. So . . . it'll be here eventually. Anyways this wraps up our mini-series. I really like the job that Andy Hartnell is putting out with this story. He was a co-creator of them originally, so he should know his characters. And it does show in his stories. I also like that he handles it kind of like an Indiana Jones movie. It's one hair-raising situation after the next. I have to admit that I like Nick Bradshaw's art in this series too. I'm not trying to say that in a bad way. I just always associate JScott Campbell with the Danger Girls. But, now it's almost to the point that Nick has done as much work on them as Campbell. So even though Campbell was their creator, I'm almost thinking of Nick's work as the definitive version. I mean there's nothing to be ashamed of in that statement. Nick really is doing a fantastic job. He started out mimicking Campbell . . a bit. But now he seems to have brought a lot of his own style to the page. He's done a really good job of filling some big shoes. Anyways, it turns out the the whole "Master Key" thing was just a charade. Agent Zero took the Presidents place when he submitted himself as Franco's hostage. From there he took out Franco's goons and takes one of their places. While Franco has the Girls in a death trap, he comes to Franco, as one of his goons, showing him what has happened. A fight ensues, Zero takes out Franco and frees the Girls. Zero then takes the place of Franco to expose the person who set off the nukes. Meanwhile, Deuce and Valerie are back aboard the yacht, and are about to be assaulted by the military. Well as it turns out, the General was the one behind the whole thing. There's a bit of a skirmish but they end up taking him down. Of course it helps that Deuce had the real President aboard the yacht to back up his story. This was a really nice mini-series. Had a good feel and a good look to it. I just hope we don't have to wait so long to see the girls again.

Danger Girl - Body Shots #2 - WildStorm

Oh rightee then. Andy Hartnell turns in another lovely romp by our ladies of Danger. And Nick Bradshaw gives us a few titillating moments of our spies obvious assets. They're still after the Master Key this issue, but our antagonist reveals himself. Not that it means anything, but his name is Authur Franco. And it seems that the only thing he wants in exchange for holding the country hostage, is the president. The girls find a camp, where he's supposed to be holed up. But when they get there they're attacked by, what they think, is his henchmen. Turns out they're a special forces team, after the same think the girls are. And they're lead by Johnny, a former romantic interest of Sydney's. After a quick reunion, Abbey brings them back to reality, and they're ready to resume their mission. In the hut they find a computer, but unfortunately it's connected to a bomb. Being who they are,though, they're able to download the in-tell off of it, and escape any serious damage to themselves when the bomb goes off. Unfortunately, in the process they find out some info about Arthur and they try to call off the operation where the President is going to give himself over to save the country. Just as unfortunately, they're just smidgen to late. The President has just jumped out of the plane and is in free-fall when they try to contact him. But then if it was that easy, it wouldn't be a 4 issue series. Right? If you ask me, I think the President's in on it. But that's just me. I guess we'll just have to wait till next issue for more romping action and Danger.

Danger Girl - Body Shots #1 - WildStorm

Why, in the last couple of years, has JScott Campbell not done any of the Danger Girl books. All the one shots and minis that have come out, and he hasn't pencilled any of them. It's not like he's doing something else. He's not even doing Sliderz any more. Or . . . if he is . . . he's taking an awful long time between books. But, since Andy Hartnell is writing all of them, they all have the same, and right feel to them. This is a franchise that I just feel that they could be doing so much more with. We've been getting like 1 or 2 books a year. I mean come on. Let us see our girls in action, a little more consistently. Or at least, more often. Nick Bradshaw does the pencils this issue. And, while he's no JScott Campbell, he does seem like he's having fun with these characters. I do like the feel that he's giving the book, artistically. He's got a very nice style, and his frame sequences are spot on. Everything flows very nicely. This time they're after a device called the "master key". Basically it can unlock any technology anywhere in the world. So whoever controls the key . . . . could control the world. So . . . they've been charged with getting it back. And of course they're going to come across the usual array of bad-guys doing so. But this is #1 of 4, so we're really just beginning our story. And regardless of whether or not JScott Campbell is on board, this should prove to be a fun ride.
