I spend a lot of time and money buying and reading comics. Most of the time I'm happy with my choices, sometimes not. I'm hoping, that with my reviews on what I've read, I might spare someone else dissapointment. I'll read anything, but I can't afford everything. If there's something you'd like for me to read, let me know. If you take the time to read this, please, take the time to let me know what you think. I may not agree with you, or you may not agree with me. But, so what. That's life.

X-Men Legacy #229 - Marvel
I like this story . . this whole thing with Emplate being back and all, but . . the whole thing just seemed a little . . predictable, to me. Last issue Emplate shows up at Utopia and grabs Bling. He takes her back to his dimension and plans on using her as his food source . . he survives on the bone-marrow of mutants. Rouge decides that she wants to go after her. I guess she's tired of sitting on the side-lines. So she absorbs Trance's powers, who can also see Emplate's dimensional doorway, and goes after him. The problem is, in order to get there she has to be in Trance's astral projection state. A ghost, basically. And, in Emplate's dimension, everyone can see her visage. So it's not like she's going to get to do the whole 'sneak attack' thing. Anyways, DOA see her and sicks some of the guard dogs on her. But here? Here guard dogs are these snakey, lizardy type of demon thingies. Now, in this dimension Emplate's home is this light-house that kind of floats around in the ether. But there does appear to be a planet here . . or something, where the demon thingies come from. And that's what Rogue uses to get them off her tail. Meanwhile back in Utopia, the X-Club has developed a luminal dragnet . . 'When it's turned on, all spatial and dimensional distortions should be a lot harder to maintain in it's vicinity.' Basically, they've made a device to stop anyone from using teleporting powers to jump in and out of Utopia. This would affect Kurt, Pixie and certainly Emplate. At the same time, Rogue has returned to Emplate's home, just as he's decided to go ahead and eat Bling. On the way in Rogue runs across the computer that controls their navigation. There's a fight and all . . it looks like Emplate is going to try and eat Rogue, but . . we all know that's not going to happen. No, without his knowing it, I'm sure Rogue has programmed the computer to return them to Utopia. So when Trance's powers wear off she won't be stuck here. And, with the X-Clubs invention, Emplate won't be able to leave because they'll be 'port-blocking' him. Once there the X-Men will probably find some way to feed him without hurting other mutants, he'll join the team . . and everyone will live happily ever-after. Ok! Maybe it won't end like that. But . . the part about him returning and them 'blocking' him . . that I can see. Anyways, it was an ok story. I've seen better from Mike Carey, and many less predictable. But with this whole Necrosha thing coming down on them, I'm sure this story needs to be wrapped up pretty quickly. So, yes . . it is kind of predictable. Daniel Acuna steps in on the art this issue. It looks fantastic. I'm a huge fan of Daniel's work and it's nice to see his interpretation of the X-Men. Hopefully next issue will be a little better than this one, but . . I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
