Spawn #159 - Image

Ok with this issue, were being pulled deeper into the heaven and hell storyline. At the end of last issue Wanda had decided to go into the other room and put a gun to her head. The revelation about her kids, and her role in the whole heaven and hell war, was just to much for her to handle. This "Mother" creature though, slows down time so Spawn can save her. He has a very specific role to play in the war, and if something happens to Wanda, and his love for her is broken, he will not have the strength to play his role. Meanwhile Terry is blaming Al for this whole thing. All he really sees is what's being done to his family, his kids, and his life. And in his eyes it's all Al's fault. After Spawn pleads with her, the "Mother" erases all the memories for Wanda and Terry, and fixes the surroundings so they won't know what has transpired. But Cyan still knows. Cyan is also special and has a specific role to play. But we don't know what that is yet. "Mother" trys to explain to Spawn what his role is, who will be at his side, and who he needs help from. But of course she has to do it in the mystical way where she gives him just enough information to pique his interest and cause him to have more questions then he did before. The one thing he does know, is that in order to get Cyan ready, he has to show her his true nature. Which is not pretty. But it works, and the bond between them is now even stronger. We also see what Cyan and Spawn think it the Rapture. Thousands of souls being called to heaven, so they can be off the earth before the end of days. But, it looks like what's really happening is heaven is calling up a bunch of souls, so they'll have more angels to fight in their war. I like the direction this book is heading right now. And this storyline should keep it going there for many issues to come.
