I spend a lot of time and money buying and reading comics. Most of the time I'm happy with my choices, sometimes not. I'm hoping, that with my reviews on what I've read, I might spare someone else dissapointment. I'll read anything, but I can't afford everything. If there's something you'd like for me to read, let me know. If you take the time to read this, please, take the time to let me know what you think. I may not agree with you, or you may not agree with me. But, so what. That's life.

Ultimate Comics Spider-man #5 - Marvel
This is a great book. I love what Brian Bendis has been doing here since the first issue of the first series. I love seeing Spider-man at this age, and this experience level. Maybe it's nostalgia. I don't know. Whatever it is, this is my favorite Spider-man series, ever! Anyways, last issue Mysterio came after Spider-man by setting a trap for him. He made it look like the Hulk was rampaging on the Queensboro bridge. And Spider-man walked right into it. The issue ended with Mysterio knocking him out and about to unmask him. As he's prepared to do so at the beginning of this issue, Spider-man's mysterious benefactor, his partner in crime . . the anonymous red-cloaked 'hero', whom Spider-man neither knows his name or purpose . . Mr no-name comes to Spider-man's rescue by taking on Mysterio himself. He doesn't last long against him either, but he does give Peter the respite he needs to gather his breath, and his wits. Long story short, between the two of them them rattle Mysterio enough that he has to leave without finishing his task. Oh yeah, and after a swift kick to the head, Mysterio's head-cloud disappears and we can see his face. It might just be me, but he kind of looks like Lex Luthor. Anyways, in all the hullabaloo a piece of his mask breaks off. Spider-man gathers it up and takes it to Captain Quaid at the Police Station. He worries when the Captain wants to turn it over to the Feds. Peter doesn't trust many people, but he trusts the Captain. The Captain thinks they may be on to something afterall . . between the tech and the fact that he was coming after Spider-man. And, later when Mysterio is back at his secret lair fuming over the setback that 'Spider-boy' has dealt him, he realizes that there's blood on one of his devices. Since he can't bleed he assumes that it's 'Spider-boys'. 'Look at this. That's not mine. Ooohh . . got ya. For real.' I have to state the obvious though . . maybe it's Spider-man's blood, and maybe it's no-names? Guess we'll have to wait until next issue to find out. And, while all of that was happening, Bobby Drake got kicked out of his home by his mother so he's decided to surprise Kitty by showing up there. Which is fine with Kitty, but . . her mother has a melt-down. So where is this young stray mutant to go? Where else. He'll also be staying at Aunt Mays. As Gwen says, 'It's like our own little Avengers mansion.' Well . . if Mysterio does decided to attack him at home, at least he'll have some live-in back-up ready. I thought it was a great issue. The only person we didn't see this time was MJ. I also enjoyed the art of David Lafuente. At first I thought he was much to different from Mark or Stuart, but . . he's growing on me. It helps that they all share the same type of framing sequence. I'm sure that's at Brian's direction. But even without that, David has given this book his own unique feel. This book really feels like it's getting back on track. It's a different track. Different from the one before, but . . it's still a track none-the-less. This is easily one of my top 10 books every month. I love it!
