Uncanny X-Men #481 - Marvel

I really do love this book. Ed Brubaker is a fantastic writer and Billy Tan is equally impressive on pencils. But this story, "Rise & Fall of the Shi'ar Empire" is really starting to drag. I'm sure we'll see some more action next issue, because the Starjammers joy the fray. But this one seems like a history lesson of the Shi'ar. Our X-men are stuck trying to retrofit the ship they're in, while Xavier in on the Shi'ar home-world being tortured by the evil Vice Chancellor K'tor. He seems to be trying to make a bid to take over the empire for himself. Or maybe it's for his mentor Chancellor Araki. They seem to be in on it together. And we have no idea where Vulcan is. Actually we haven't seen him in the last 2 issues. But Rachel, who mind melded with Korvus and the Phoenix blade last issue, somehow is feeling connected to him now. And their bond is stirring base emotions in both of them. Meoooww!! Anyways, Darwin was also on board the ship that brought the Prof. to the home-world. And at the end of this issue, he starts to make his bid for an escape attempt. I really do love this book. Like I said, there just wasn't a lot of action this issue. More of a history lesson. But it was still good. And there's still 5 more issues in this storyline, so it could all hit the fan pretty quick now.
